Students are invited to participate in a competition to help Save St. Maarten’s Coral Reefs for cash prizes! Submission Date Extended to Januray 31st, 2021

The Nature Foundation in collaboration with the IHE Delft Institute of Water Education is hosting a coral competition for local students of St. Maarten!

Competition Info:

Interested students may submit ideas on how to help protect the reefs that surround SXM. These can be submitted in the form of a presentation, video, essay, work of art, or any other media that best describes the student’s plans.

These plans must:
1- Be executable with 4000 Euros or less
2- Be creative ways to solve the threats corals are facing on St. Maarten
3- The Nature Foundation, St. Maarten must be able to execute these projects.

4- The proposal must be submitted to the Nature Foundation by no later than January 31st, 2021.

The submissions will be split into two age groups: 11-14 years old and 15-19 years old. Five winning ideas will be selected from both age groups.

Student Requirements:

  • Students must be between 11-19 years old to participate
  • Students may submit ideas as individuals or as groups
  • Each student may only submit one proposal
  • All participants must live on the Dutch side of St. Maarten

Available Prizes:

The winning proposal will be implemented by the Nature Foundation, St. Maarten.

The top 5 submissions from each age group will also win a cash prize!
